How do you come up with a really good story?
I believe everyone has at least one bad story in them. Perhaps a lot of bad stories. And I’m not saying that to be rude or that it’s a bad thing. Even great writers have bad stories in them.
The thing is, sometimes you have to get through the bad stories to get to the good ones.
You don’t have to write a whole book or screenplay to know how awful something is. Roughing out the story is usually enough to let you know, this ain’t good.
Because the truth is, not every story should be told. And you should spend the majority of your precious time and effort creating the stories that must be told.
